New bow strings

No, Mtuntr, the string on your bow is a custom string from Hoyt. Not sure who they use... It does look cool though! I hope it's working well for you.

I had Winner's choice put on my Hoyt Carbon Matrix and my Elite Answer came with them. I have had great luck with both, but they are the only after market strings I have even used.

I replace all my stock strings with Stone Mountain "Dakota" strings and am very pleased.

There is a custom string maker out of Colorado called Twisted Archer. I have had his strings on my last two bows and have been very pleased. You can find him over on Archey Talk.

TOo high in my opinion. I just replaced strings and cables on a 2-cam bow for $125.00. Shop installed Vapor trail strings. Great strings made here in MN.
A couple years ago I sent my bow to a guy on Archery Talk and he made custom strings, installed them and tuned the bow with one of my arrows for ~$200.

Strings are generally $60-80 plus install. Total should never be more than $150.00

Ask why he's charging double for the strings. Either that or ask him if he will install a set you buy. You can buy a set of production strings or order a custom set for $60-80 and have him install them.

I have heard good things about the Vapor Trails. What shop do you use?

I go to Cabin Fever in Victoria. Another great shop a lot closer to you is Archery Specialists in Osseo, MN. My buddy has his bow worked on there.

He had the Vapor trails put on last year or the year before and likes them a lot. His strings still look great. I shoot more than he does, but he probably takes better care of his stuff than I do. I would recommend them and both of the shops.

If you ever want to shoot, let me know.

I have been in shooting at Archery Specialists, they have 50yd lanes in there, so you can get some longer shooting done in the winter.

They are big time speed advocates, so I have found our opinions diverge on things, but they seem to be good dudes. My buddy used to work on bows for them.

If you are ever over by Hudson, WI; A-1 Archery is a really good shop too. When possible I like to have them work on my stuff. Fortunately, my inlaws are from that area, so I get over there often.
