At 76 ive been having a bit of trouble drawing 50 lb on the recurve, certainly nowhere near being as good as i was 18 months ago, mainly lack kf time being busy developing my hog deer property. I put on the old thinking cap and decided to start with a cheap compound and a target one at that, so ended up with a topoint starter 36, at 270 aud its no big deal if i was going to be wrong. Just about finished the tuning and im more than happy, if i can become proficient at 40 to maybe 50 mtrs id be over the moon. So here is the just about finished tuning this morning. Im also using a thumb release, awesome bit of kit.

Two days ago i left the house about an 1 1/2 after dark to check the property and see if there were any foxes about, did run across a mob of fallow deer, my thermal is cheap so i cant pick up hard antlers on the animal but the way one of the heap spots was running about i knew i would be a buck. Just before daylight i was back down there and they were still there, as it grew lighter i switched to my binos and yes sir it was a buck and a goody, i assesed him at 200 points, a beauty is 230 upwards. This morning i was back under the trees on daybreak but no sign of the does, just the stag travelling from my right to left, i moved forward to keep him in view and he either saw the movement or id trod on a small stick, anyway he had me pinpoined and came trotting over to check out his adversary, right up to 10 mtrs, bet ya 10 to 1 he wont do that again when ive got the bow with me.
Unfortunately the bucks leave the does after the rut and join others to form a batchelor
Group. I was hoping the reverse and my two american companions would be able to have a crack at him if the stars align with this fuel balls up. I did have my camera along for the ride but it all happened so quick, give him a day or two and when the breeze is from the west quarter ill be back down there.

I am 77 and REFUSE to shoot a crossbow. So after a long winter I start about March lifting 40 lb dumbbells than increase to 50 lb. I try to shoot my bow every day or at lease every other day 10 GOOD shot arrows My bow is set at 50 lbs and than I am ready to go. GOOD LUCK !
