Here's my latest muzzleloader. It's a Sharon Hawken built in mid 70's. I've wanted a Sharon barrel for a long time but getting the whole gun is a bonus. It has that well used look I love. It will be my new elk/bear gun.
I still lived in Colorado back when they started their special muzzleloading seasons. For the first year I built a .45 caliber Kentucky rifle from a CVA kit. I ended up shooting my largest mule deer ever with that rifle. The next year they upped the minimum caliber to .50 for elk, so I built a .54 caliber Hawken from a Green River kit. I didn't kill anything with that rifle until about 10 years ago with this Montana buffalo, and really, I had a camo jacket on for the hunt, but I got hot and took it off...
