Or 37.1 Lbs.

Or 1.15# of food a day.

So I have 16#'s to play with.. And dad's right in there, After dumping a couple socks for Round 2 he's right at 90# with the food and Video/camera Equipment, Ect.

SO.. NOW I can ADD some stuff back in
wink.gif

I went through your entire list, then I see you have weight to spare, so now this is a moot point, but since I jotted all of this down. I would of, if you needed the weight...

-limited myself to 1 tarp and footprint, or 2 tarps
- Knix 5 GL jug, and either the two nalgene bottles or one water bladder
- toss 3 titanium cups
- toss the mess kit, except for pot w/ lid
- toss lexan knife and fork
- toss anchor points
- consider getting rid of wool clothes and buy synthetic...fleec (major weight difference and fleece and water mixes better than wool and water
- toss hipboot socks
- limit yourself to a cold weather hat and ball cap (I know you like hats, but you don't need all of those)
- consider a pair of the fingerless gloves with the mitton that slides on, avoid taking two pair
- toss flagging tape...this isn't whitetail deer hunting...if you need a marker use T.P.
- limit the amount of duct tape...a whole roll is too much
- toss electrical tape
- toss clothes pins
- only take one large dry bag
- you should package everything before you go so you don't need 2 boxes of ziplocks

Also, know that pressurized fuel canisters are not allowed on commercial flights and frowned upon by bush pilots, but you can normally slip them by. If you must take the butane, have Joel pick it up for you...DON'T take it on the flight to AK

YAH, I'm down to an Extra 14#s or so. If this was A backpacking trip it would look a bit different too
tongue.gif

-limited myself to 1 tarp and footprint, or 2 tarps

(My thinking was footprint for Tent, 1 Lg tarp for camp cover, 1 small tarp for meat stacking and 1 tarp for covering the meat at camp. I could combine them but this time I'm taking them)

- Knix 5 GL jug, and either the two nalgene bottles or one water bladder

(My thinking was the First day in or camp since we're stuck there 10 days was to Fill the 5 gallon Jug, And all the bottles and Platapuss's. That was we don't need to worry about getting water in the Morning when everything could be frozen or in the evening when We're butt tiered. Since we can't hunt the first day anyways but will do a bit of scouting)

- toss 3 titanium cups

(Truth be told I don't HAVE any cups. I'm wondering how the Hell I'm going to cookthat dam Coaco If I don't have any ?!?! Maybe you misunderstood my list titanium 4 cup was a pot that I boil water in. It was the size of the titanium pot. Also can be used to cove my Jimmy when I bath :eek
smile.gif

- toss the mess kit, except for pot w/ lid

(the mess kit was a last min thought. It has a pan type thing that we could fry up some loins or something. We didn'thave any other pans on the list.)

- toss lexan knife and fork

(I agree it's not Needed)

- toss anchor points

(My thinking was these things conect to the Tarp even if the EYE rings get toar out. Roumor has it the Wind could really blow so It was more of a Safety Idea or a way to Secure it if needed. Also to cover the Tent to tire it down it tent rips or something like that....)

- consider getting rid of wool clothes and buy synthetic...fleec (major weight difference and fleece and water mixes better than wool and water

(I agree, But I have a Wool vestthat I use alot and Just haven't replaced it. I guess after looking at the Item Price tag a $50 vext ain't that much.. eh ?
tongue.gif
)

- toss hipboot socks

(YAH, I bought a long sleve Shirt from Cabela's and ran accross the socks. So I bought them. They're not even here until tomorrow. I was figureing I'd check them out. I'll be wearing the Hip boots more then I will my regular boots for the Moose hunt portion of the trip (10 days) so I figured I'd check out to see how they were)

- limit yourself to a cold weather hat and ball cap (I know you like hats, but you don't need all of those)

(It's all about the Pictures man !!! I need the Hunttalk.com hats for Obvius reasons. And the Neck Gaiter is my reversable hat and Lucky hat. )

- consider a pair of the fingerless gloves with the mitton that slides on, avoid taking two pair

(Actually my fingerless gloves are the Ones that cover over them too. I figured thats all I'd need but then thought I'd throw in a Dry clean pair incase my fingers got cold at camp or something. I have sensative fingers... I.E. I'm a pu$$Y when it comes to the cold and for some reason my fingers are the first. I can go without a shirt and be better of then exposing my fingers. Weird eh ? )

- toss flagging tape...this isn't whitetail deer hunting...if you need a marker use T.P.

(T.P. WHAT ? waste the Mountain Money ? HAHA.. BTW, Did you see the color of my tape ? It's pink w/ black dots.. Everyone else here uses yellow or jsut pink flagging tape. Mines a bit different so I know it's mine.)

- limit the amount of duct tape...a whole roll is too much

(I'm a redneck. Duck tape is good for Everything!!!)

- toss electrical tape

At minimum I ned to wrap a bunch around the End of my gun to keep the Water out and dirt out. I figured I'd bring a roll due to the weight...or lack of)

- toss clothes pins

(YAh, Also a good point....)

- only take one large dry bag

(Adding up what needs to be in there I think You're right. )

- you should package everything before you go so you don't need 2 boxes of ziplocks

(the box's of Ziplocks is so When We meet Joel who Is buying everything we can PAckage them up before we fly off. I usually get all my Day stuff together. that way my Lunches are All pre packed in the Bags. So I guess me and You are on the same thinking ? Either way, the weight od the Bags wil still be there around all the Food products jsut not in the box form.. If that makes sence ?!?!)

Also, know that pressurized fuel canisters are not allowed on commercial flights and frowned upon by bush pilots, but you can normally slip them by. If you must take the butane, have Joel pick it up for you...DON'T take it on the flight to AK

(10-4, To get my weight I filled up one 18oz Canister with water and got the weight. We're taking empty canisters to AK, then filling them up. We're bringing one pressurized canister for a backup.)

All that being said, Thanx for gonig through my list man !!! Thats exactly what I needed. Like i said with 90# there is room to be a bit stupid with stuff but hopefully I didn't get to silly. And the things you pointed out I'd nuke in a second if I was backpacking that crap on my back !!!!!

Moosie -

I'd add a lot more bug spray. If they are bad the little amount that you have won't last long.

Also some light camp clothes might be wanted if the weather gets all warm and beautiful.

Just my thoughts.

Bring slippers for camp...I'm tellin ya

Question about your intended use for the tarp i.e. Camp Cover: What are you going to prop it up with and what are you going to tie it off to? More than likely the tallest thing in the area will be you uless your Dad's taller. Most likely there will be some stunted willows in the creek bottoms but no timber to speak of unless there happens to be some black spruce within walking distance.
Call ahead to your air taxi and ask if there are spruce trees in the area they intend to drop you off in.

I thought about Cmap shoes.. I might still do that. Thanx.

The first area we're hunting at will be a tree area. It's gonig to be different then the 'Bou hutning area. the tarp for the 2nd leg isn't all that important. Mostly it's for the First leg of the trip.

PS, Me and dad are both 6' So we could be trees out 'bou hunting
biggrin.gif

LOL JB !! I did that for Insurances Purposes. My wife knows I wouldn't pay those Prices for SILLY HUNTING STUFF
