MR Metcalf compression strap failure

Any ideas how to fix this?

One of buckles on the frame pulled out on my first elk hunt of the year. In the moment I used a bit of paracord, but I would like to find a way to attach the buckle again.

I sent a request to MR but I doubt I'll have enough time to ship it to them and get it back before I leave on my next elk hunt.

Know anybody who sews? And not in a “I made my kids Halloween costume” kind of way.

Our neighbor runs a wall tent/awning business, they’ve sewed buckles back in for me. Find an outfit that makes boat covers, they should be set up for something like that.

If it happened to me I’d grab my speedy stitcher and stitch the hell out of it and hope it holds. Maybe reinforce/replace webbing with new climbing grade 1” webbing.

I would sew it. If you can’t stitch it to the frame cover, just loop a piece of old nylon strap around it that has the buckle on it. Hopefully that makes sense.

My go to for things like that is nrs straps, get a 1 footer, loop around frame with your old buckle and you are back in business. Or use good old paracord. Once season is done send it in to MR, I would even contact them now and tell them how it’s going to screw up your hunt, maybe they send you a new frame.

I don’t know your route for your next elk hunt, but if you are heading through Spokane, I have a Metcalf you can borrow.

Just be easy on the straps.

Just a few days ago I cut the waist strap off a fanny pack a sewed it onto an old bass pro pack where one side had tore out.
I used a 3" cutting needle from my taxidermy shop with cape thread. High poundage spider wire fishing line should also work. My son will be using the pack next week for 1st rifle elk.
