I heard a rumor that the early snows caught the moose up high and there was a high mortality rate this winter in the areas outside of Anchorage. Sorry I don’t have exact unit numbers but hoping someone on here can shed some honest light on that? I thought I’d check here before I contacted the F&G.

I believe the notable mortality came late winter. Lots of snow after the new year and into late spring. Starvation? Had lots of moose through the yard late winter mowing down the brush and chewing bark off trees more than usual. Deep snow puts them on the roads and railroad tracks. A lot go down that way. Yet, spotted two cows on the past weekend. Young bull walked trough the yard yesterday. I live in unit 14a
