Montana Non-Resident Elk Combo Applicants who didn't draw Options

I have heard there is a list Non-Residents can get on to try to get a tag if their Montana General Elk Combo application is not drawn?

So how does that work and when does a person apply to be on that list?

When you find out you're unsuccessful contact FWP and ask to get on the alternates list. Here is last year's info. Dates will likely be the same

This . But don’t hold your breath on getting one of those . There’s 3 alternates lists , big game combo , deer combo and elk combo . Each will have 3,000+ folks on it and it’s a random draw to give you a number . If your not in the top 300-500 your screwed usually of course all depends on the year . With insane gas prices this year there could be a lot of tags returned
