Montana backcountry mule deer advice

I am looking for advice on hunting mule deer in the backcountry of montana. I'm planning on hunting montana in the next few years. I've hunted myle deer for many years in wyoming and I'm not scared to hike or take the horse or even of grizz. I know montana isn't any thing like Wyoming or Colorado as far as backcountry goes for glassing. I love chasing mature mule deer and I'm looking for a challenge. Any advice on mountain ranges would be great. I'm not asking for ur spot or location. Just a mountian range with a chance to see and chase quality bucks. There is so much country iin montana just trying to narrow down my search and time on Google earth. Thanks any advice will be much appreciated

Like you said, there is a lot of country and most of it holds deer. Are you interested in hunting clay bluffs and sage flats? Thick, dark timber and lodgepoles? Drier and more open juniper and pine? Depending on what part of the state you're looking at, you'll find very different country.

I'm more interested in higher elevations. More so timbered but where a guy can find open shouts with good feed or some areas above timber line where some grass can grow. I know there a lot of county above timber line that's mostly if not all rock. Places I can work a drainage from a ridge or peak and be able change drainages with a little effort. I'm looking for quality over quantity also ( I'd rather work hard and see a giant and not get him then to look at little deer. It's about the chase to me and the challenges of the hunt.)
