Marlin Hammer Extension

How do you guys keep them from working loose? I'm not even sure a little LocTite red will be enough to keep the small set screw from working loose given the beating the extension takes when doing its job. And the screw is so small that I can see it being easy to break off the small Allen Wrench trying to get it tight, or trying to loosen it should there become a need to remove it after LocTite has been applied.

LocTite red has worked for all 3 of mine for many years, YMMV.

Assuming you have a scope on a lever action?

Blasphemy.

Remove the scope.

Problem solved.



On a serious note, I've had one on muzzle loader just to make grabbing the hammer a little easier. I had the same problems and just gave up.

It's a Marlin. However, I also have a Winchester Model 94 that will never wear a scope.

Use loctite green death on the extension and the hammer and you won't need the set screw.

IIRC, I didn't use any w/no issue...but blue would be my suggestion.

I put one on my 30-30 in the mid 80s with no loc tight. Has never come loose.
