Lever Guns, what would you choose & why?

I will probably find a Henry .22 or an older Marlin 39 .22 when my kids get a bit older but I’ve always liked the .357 Mag. Seems the new Marlin 1894 would fit the bill well but a .44 mag would be close behind. Already load for both so why not?!

Always liked the idea of a .45-70 but I probably wouldn’t use it much. Seems everyone should have a 94 or 336 in .30/30.

Grandpa had a Savage 99 that one of my uncles grabbed when they split up his guns. Would kind of like my own version for nostalgia’s sake.

Man, I really need a lever gun.
I absolutely love my Henry model X in 44 mag. I added a Midwest Industries handguard and an LPVO to turn it into a modern lever rifle. Definitely a head turner and conversation starter whenever I show it off at the range. I've used it for deer hunting too, and it performs flawlessly.

If you just want to have fun or hunt small game, I would suggest a pre-safety Marlin 39A or a Winchester 9422. I have both. I probably prefer the Winchester because it is slim and trim.

I got a Marlin Trapper 45-70 last year. I like shooting it and it is fun to hunt with. For me, the sight radius is a little too short to do a steady diet of open-sight shooting, but it doesn’t do too bad with the 1.5-5 Leupold I have on it.

One of these days, I will likely get a Marlin 44 because I could use it for plinking or hunting and it would complement my 44 revolver. I wouldn’t hesitate to use it on game up to elk or moose at closer ranges.
I love the 44 mag for a general all-around hunting caliber for larger game.

I know Henry is coming out with a Long Ranger in 308 with an 18" barrel and Skinner peep sight installed (Big Woods Bucks Model). Also heard rumblings that they would be offering the Supreme in some different calibers (hopefully 308) short barrel with a flush magazine option....the tang safety, internal hammer and smooth action of the Supreme is awesome...I would definitely buy once offered

Since there doing 308 a 7mm-08 would be really nice

I just picked up this Marlin 1888 in 38-40 and had it long enough to shoot a prairie dog and badger with it.

This is a scarce gun, it is a top eject Marlin that they only made for a couple years before going to the typical Marlin side eject rifles…
