Lever Guns, what would you choose & why?

The one I wish I still had is Marlin M444. Optics were factory buckhorn sights viewed through see-through mounts holding a widefield 1.5x4 scope. I chose this over 45/70 because I was reloading a lot of .44 for both rifle and revolver. Unmatched stalking/stillhunting piece within 200 yards. I was over the moon when dad took his last deer with it. It can be seen here.

38-55 Cowboy Special Marlin. Very fun to shoot. Not an extreme long range gun but it will work well at the distances I would use it at. Someday I will have to try Winchester 94 to see how they compare to the 336's. The 336 is pretty easy to break down clean and you can accurize them with a little effort.
Never realized how thick my 336s were until I got a 94. There’s definitely room for both.

A pair of Marlin 338ME. The good ones. One gets hunted one gets looked at

I bought a BLR in .308 because I wanted a lever but also wanted to shoot spitzer bullets. The box magazine facilitates that.

Well, the itch finally got scratched, Yesterday I filled out papers for the Marlin 1895 guide gun in 45-70.
because this #%*&^$ *^ state is not a free state, The soonest i can pick it up is Aug.16th.
I was concerned about the stout recoil, but it has a threaded barrel so i can add a brake if needed.
Will be awhile before i can get it to the range, but I will have better pics later on.

Someday I’ll get a 45-70. I like the thought for several reasons. I would also consider a 357 since I have a revolver and brass and bullets are available.

Congrats on that gun @RG300 . You will love it. I have that 1895 SBL in 45-70 (the one below your circled pic) and love it.

Thank you so much..... All things equal, i would have preferred an SBL, but the SBL price tag was a tad much.....worth every penny im sure, but i did not have the difference on me at the time. I'm sure i will be quite satisfied with the Guide Gun...
the SPL sure is pretty though, lol....

You are going to love it. It will shoot great, and you will be pleased with how sweet it shoots.

Sweet rig RG, I like that finish combo a lot...& you don't need a brake, they're loud enough w/o one ; )
