I have been reloading seriously for a week or so to get ready for gophers/prairie dogs. A friend called this morning and was asking questions about a sight on a 1894 Winchester when I got a text that some elk had been seen on a local ranch.

I told Bill we needed to go and check it out, and meet me at my house ASAP. He got there about noon, we were home by 5:00...

It takes a different type of work to get easy elk. I don’t take a 75 pound pack 8 miles into the back country, those days are long gone. Now I spend summers shooting pesky varmints and coyotes, fix fence and stack hay. When fall gets here I can reap the benefits from summer activities that I really enjoy anyhow, win-win...
