Our sons come up in mid-September every year for some rainbow and dollie fishing. Along with 2 guests, there were 5 of us fishing this year.

Most of the dollies we caught were starting to show spawning colors. A lot of the rainbows were very colorful too, maybe due to the low water we had this year. We also caught a couple of silvers and some reds (nasty spawned out and ready to die). There were many 40-50 fish days (for each of us). September in AK has to be experienced. We also saw 13 bears on this trip. We usually only see 2-3.

That’s a place I’ve always wanted to fish. Great photos.
I think that the Kenai River might (on a GOOD day) be the only road accessible fishery in the country where, when you're playing a 20" trout and a companion asks if you want it netted and you reply, "No", because you just want to horse it in and catch a bigger fish. :)
