Jitterbug on a small lake

I didn't know those were up there. Nice fish. Do you eat those things? I've heard they are awful boney.

They are an introduced species south of the Alaska range, but are found naturally in the Yukon River Drainage. Bucket biologists introduced them to many of the lakes around anchorage. Some people think the next record fish will come out of the anchorage city limits because of the stocked trout the pike gorge on.

Don't let people b.s. you, especially diehard walleye freaks. Pike are delicious.
Not that complicated to fillet them, just a different approach.

Are you saying I should quit throwing them back and only keeping walleye?

They actually taste pretty good. Once fileted, you turn it into "strips" by fileting the meat from the y-bones running through them. You end up with boneless fish ready to deep-fry!
