Look at the MVUM map of the area you are hunting. It shows all legal motorized roads, trails and restrictions on every open road and trail. If there are no motorized trails, your truck will be fine. Near my cabin is a set of forest service roads, about 15 total miles. All are rated as 4wd. There are no motorized trails in this are, just the roads. People bring their ATVs/UTVs on trailers, towed by trucks and SUVs that can easily negotiate these roads. Machines unload, headphones on, dirt jockeys drive these roads in quads, going no farther than I do in my Ford Ranger or Ridgeline softroad truck, eating my dust and that from all the adventure motorcycle riders that make this little loop off the highway. SMH.

Hauled my atv out west for the first time this year and boy was it worth it! Never regretted leaving it at home previously but northern NV benefitted from it much more than anywhere I’ve hunted in MT, WY, or CO.

I live in Colorado and guess it depends on the type of hunting you do. But for me, where I elk and deer hunt, you wouldn't be able to get far with an ATV even if you were allowed to use it. That being said, I have two for my cabin and home use for hauling firewood, dirt, rocks and plowing snow.

Maybe I'm getting old - just bought a CanAm SxS - took it to WY for a combo pronghorn & Mule Deer hunt with my son. Sure is comfortable when the weather turns to rain/sleet/snow/hail...

I’ve hunted Colorado mule deer a few times, and honestly it depends on how much ground you plan to cover. ATVs are great for hauling gear and covering distance, but most areas worth hiking into don’t allow them past certain points anyway.If you’ve got decent access and plan to hike in once you get close, you might find it’s more hassle than it’s worth to tow it. I usually just use the truck to get to the trailhead and hoof it from there quieter and less gear to worry about.

How would you charge it up out in the woods? I hear it takes awhile. Wouldn't want to listen to a generator for that long. Just my 2 cents.

You plug it into a current bush...lots of em in CO
