In Need of Advice

I have hunted with an outfitter in montana and kansas the last couple of years. I now would like to do it on my own. Where should I try to rifle hunt for mule deer? What is the chance that I could get a buck tag? Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

Nebraska or Oklahoma have OTC tags and mule deer. Look at mckelvie nf, pine ridge nf, wma's, national grasslands, etc. Nebraska has cheap tags and lots of public land. Anywhere around chadron has deer.

It all depends on what you're looking for. I think you could probably find a respectable 4x4 in eastern Montana after hunting 4-5 days even with numbers down after last winter. My standards are still rather low, so my idea of a decent buck might isn't probably the same as most on here.
