Well guys, I jumped in with both feet. Let's just say that there was a difference of opinion over my billable hours between me and the managing partner. His idea was for me to stay at the office longer and work harder. My idea was that the firm needs to advertise so I can have more clients (I only had 72, that isn't enough to bill out 30+ hours per week). Then he gave me an ultimatum on deciding on which partner route I wanted (niether would allow me to support my family in addition to paying 1/3 of the office expenses). I am Scottish through and through, and as some of you know, you don't give a Scottish person an ultimatum. Soooo, I have now left me previous job and have opened my own office. I have only been doing it for a month, and I can honestly say one thing. IT IS GREAT BEING YOUR OWN BOSS!!!!! Besides, now I only need to get permission from myself if I want to go hunt.

LOL, congrats wish i could be my own boss, so fricking bad u have pay to get a home job they all scams anyway makes me so mad i give up:) inless it appears. hope u do ok wyom and best for ya

Welcome to the ranks of the Self-Unemployed! I hope yours goes as well as mine did, you just have to find THAT nitch. I could'nt go back to work for the other fellow, it just is too much fun knowing your getting the credit or blame for what you turn out. Good Luck! John

I started our company 7 years ago with a friend and co worker. We are great partners fortunately, both hunt and often hunt together. I could never go back to working for someone else and having them tell me what, when and where. Congrat on the jump. Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes we need to be pushed.

Good Luck

No its not it flat out sucks, that being said I still would rather do it then work for someone.

give yourself a year or so and the pressure will get to you big time. get employees and you will want to kill yourself. oh I can go on and on.

Way to go Tim! Cue Johnny Paycheck...."Take this job and shove it, I aint workin here no more............"

Well Tim, the thing that I discovered when I worked for myself is that I never worked so hard in my life for such a low hourly rate. I worked 31 hours a day for about $0.85/hour.. Everything else went to pay bills and expenses. I sure did have the pleasure of having one dedicated employee though. He was responsive, smart, well mannered and could always figure out what the business needed. Then there was that other guy.

Hope it does well Tim...
It may work like Del say's, but it is still yours... :)
Way to go.. :D

Was self employed for about 27 years. Now I work for the State. The pay, an benefits are a lot better, but I don't have the freedom I used to have. BUT in a couple of more years I can retire, with full bennies, that makes it worth while.

Best wishes to you Tim. Something tells me, doing what you do, it would be darn hard for you to work for 85 cents an hour.

Hope everything works out well. May end up being the best thing to happen to you.

Yep, 85 cents an hour is a bit lower than my going rate. Thanks for all of the well wishes guys (and gals). With all of the support I am getting from family and friends I should do OK. After all, word of mouth is the best advertisement.

Good luck with the new business TIM. Sometimes it's nice being in the ranks of the unemployable. :D :D

I didn't know that Jose'Curvo came out of SI. I thought this was the domain of your alter ego ELKGUNNER.
