Our group has tags for hunt areas 62, 66, 67 and 68 in northern Nevada. We went through all the hoops to gain access through a privately held ranch which turned out to be no access due to the way the access was allowed. We were given permission to go through any unlocked gate. There were no unlocked gates. Eight days of hunting and we saw only one group of elk at 2000 yards. Chased them for over three hours until they disappeared.
We are not antler hunters. We want to fill the freezer. We have two spike elk tags and one NR cow tag.
My question to this group is where or what area to hunt? We were hunting in the Tuscarora area. Lots of private land with lots of public access. Last year we were snowed out. Our season runs to the end of January.
Any suggestions? The ages of the hunters are 65, 65, 63, and 63.
