Howa superlite 6.5 creedmoor 16.5 inch barrel

Shot off bags. It is harder to hold steady for sure. But by the time the cans on the end i bet its about perfect.

Recoil wasnt something i could tell you about with the asr brake on though.
I shot the one for my buddy off of a bipod it is jumpy but it shoots

First 5 shots after suppressor (140 bthp). High and right flier that was my fault.

Adjusted for windage after suppressor poi shift (140 bthp)

Adjusted again for zero

New ammo (143 eldx) i effed the top impact up and knew it. 20250803_151941.jpg

Last 3 shots after .2 mrad right

The gun is hard to shoot - its "superlite" as they say - so it made it easy to have a flyer.

I didnt have a bipod - was planning to use a tripod to save some weight so this is just oft of sandbags.

If youre wondering about the howa superlite - i consider it to be a pretty damn good shooter. If i were better skilled itd look a lot better.

A lot of people shoot 11 lb guns like that. That’s pretty good.

I didnt wait a long time between rounds either. Probably a few mins between groups and 30 seconds to a minute per shot. Didnt have a lot of time today.

Nice rifle Forky! That will be a fun one to pack around. Just curious, what made you go with the Vortex?

Ive owned it for several years, its just been kind of passed around on rifles (this is the 4th one its been on?) and held zero and tracked where it was supposed to. The zero stop (really just shims) is kinda lame but other than that - ive got no real complaints. Considering what i paid for it and how long ive owned it, its awesome.

If money was more plentiful - id probably look at something lighter weight.

Those American Gunner 140BTHP fly really well for me and are cheap for practice. Nearly identical to the 140ELD-Ms. The ELD-Ms hit a little higher at distance, which I think they are little hotter.

Check out the AAC Sabre Black Tips too for cheap practice, which are just a rebranded SST. After being an Accubond guy the last 5-6 years (always 1.5-2 moa out of my rifles), I think I’m going to shoot the 140-147 ELD-Ms this year. IMG_4955.jpeg

ELD-M BC is also about 11% better than the BTHP. That would explain the drop at long range for me.

Yeah that makes sense. Also, the published velocity for the 140 ELD-M is 2710fps and the AG 140 BTHP is 2690fps. Probably a combo of both things

I looked at the Howa's when I was getting a light rifle. I settled on a Kimber Hunter 6.5 Creed. 6lb 2 oz (empty) with scope (Trijicon Huron 3-9x40). Best load is 41 gr H4350, Peterson SRP brass, 140 ELDM, ~ 2700 fps. Here's 18 shots at 500 yards off my fanny pack.

Interesting. I wouldnt own a kimber (of any kind) after watching a friend go through what he did for them to fix a 1911 that was defective.

Lookin forward to getting some handloads going - you use eldms on game?

I like the Kimber, same action as my Win Model 70.

ELDMs work great. Don't hit bone. I would say they are comparable to the SST (with way better BC) which I shot everything with for years.

Found a new Howa superlite with the stockys vertical grip for $750. Didn’t know they made that configuration. Must be a special order or something but for that price I might have to grab it

7 shots at 500 with an assumed velocity of 2475. Putting a bipod on helped a lot. Not sure why i ever thought this was a good plan without one. Adds some weight back - so i was hoping to avoid it but i just like bipods and prone too much.
