Mountain Tactical Reviews

I have three of their mags (2, 3 round mags and 1, 5 round mag) and the bottom metal on my T3x and I love them.
Not one problem. The bottom metal fit right in, right out of the box, no problem.
I have the bombproof recoil lug, but have not installed it yet.
I would recommend them.View attachment 376111

If you have a t3x that came with a steel recoil lug (rather than the aluminum ones that came on original T3s), I'd bet on the MT lug being more likely to be a downgrade than upgrade. I'd leave the factory one alone.

Thank you for the advice.

I also have some Waters rifleman mags (from Australia) for my tikka 223. The Waters mags are top notch but I think they only typically come in 6 and 10 round versions so not always the best for hunting rifles and they are quite expensive. If you can live with the weight/protrusion of a 6 rd model waters i think they'd be tough to beat.
Total side question, but are the Waters mags the thing to have for .223? I’ve got 3 tikka factory mags that don’t feed for crap.

Do they work with the factory bottom metal, or does that need upgrading as well?

Yes, they worked great for me with factory bottom metal. I used them that way for a while before putting my 223 in other stocks (bravo, then rokstok). There are a number of options out there. Ascension industries is making some longer COAL mags, mamba mags (i believe they are discontinued but folks have scooped up remainders recently). There's another out there too that I forget the name of. I have 2 of the waters 10 round 2.6 COAL 223 mags and that's all I use in mine. They have fed the factory 2.25ish COAL stuff well but waters also a 2.4" COAL option that is supposed to be even more foolproof for that application. I like to load stuff a bit longer than 2.4" though.

I had good results with plastic MDT AI 223 mags as well when the rifle was in a krg bravo.

Hey all,

Anyone have any experience with Mountain Tactical and their gear? Have a Tikka T3X Hunter 300 Win. Mag and looking to replace the magazine and (consequently) the bottom metal. Also going to throw on a Limbsaver recoil pad while I am at it.

Just curious if anyone has used their stuff and really likes it. Thanks in advance!

I’ve used a pile of their stuff. I love the Raptor scope mount. All the stuff has been dialed and flawless.
