I use a Mossberg 500. Put a red dot on it for this year.
As far as finding turkeys, try the Gila or the Lincoln Nat Forest for Merriam's turkeys. Both have good numbers of birds, plenty of public land and they aren't too far away from you. There are also a couple small Open Gate properties near Socorro that are open for turkey (Rio Grande Turkeys). Good luck and welcome to an addicting sport!
