That's cool that they opened up the public lands in that area now. In my day and my dad's day, a lot of BLM land in that area fell into the category of exclusive control leases so we ended up hunting the far north west section of Colorado. We would of loved to hunt closer to home.

Colorado is some great elk hunting that's for sure. I pulled maybe a couple dozen elk over my lifetime from Colorado. Big trophy opportunity too. I was hunting on a cow license on Gore Creek and my buddy had a bull tag and he snagged a really nice 6x6 with long tines.
