HB 2548 Wildlife Corridor Road Crossings

This bill would provide funding and resources for a study designed to assess placement of migration corridor road crossings. It would be an important step forward in an area Oregon is really lacking, and could lead to a longterm benefit to our mule deer herds in particular.

The public hearing was pretty interesting. Testimony from Oregon Hunters Association, RMEF, and other hunting groups was very similar to that of HSUS and other anti hunting groups.

I gave them my two cents, very important for our central OR mule deer herds... 97 and 26 are death corridors during the migration

There is a GPS monitoring program in process, started 2020 and will continue for a few years. Keep an eye on this website / project. Will be some great info for quite a few species, especially mule deer.

Yessir. This bill would provide for the final step in analysis to identify sites of high need (similar to what’s been done at the Lava Center) before construction can begin.

Also, look at all that red between Bend and Sisters! Highway 20 is a death trap for mule deer.

HB2548 will be heard by the Ag & Natural Resources committee next Tuesday (March 30) so now would be a good time to shoot them an email with your comments.
