Hunter shoots charging grizzly bear in defense of life near Cave Falls Road

On the evening of May 16, a hunter shot and killed a male grizzly bear in defense of life after it charged him and his young son from a short distance away while they were hunting black bears near the Cave Falls Road on the Caribou-Targhee National Forest outside of Ashton.

If it weren't for Henry's Lake I would say trade Montana Fremont county for Lincoln county and we would come out ahead.

If I wanted to find a grizzly in Idaho that area would be one of the first places I’d look.

I’m honestly surprised we don’t have a lot more incidents like this, especially in the areas I frequent in Montana. Glad the hunters are alright.

Yes. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to run into one in the Snowies or the Crazies, and I treat it all the same anymore.
