Looking to make the switch to lead-free bullets before next hunting season. Specifically was looking at the hammers. Anyone have any recommendations on bullet and/or powder combinations? Rifle is a ruger m77 in 30-06, hunting deer and elk, I don’t shoot past 300 yards. Until now I’ve always shot 165gr partitions with imr4350.
Thanks!

I bet the 154 tipped would work great in the ‘06. I also shot the 166 hunter for a while with RL17 and had good luck with them.

I highly recommend you join Hammer Time. That is the forum for Hammer bullets. Steve the owner and the other mods are a super valuable resource. I have only done loads with my .308 so far but the biggest thing that I took away from loading Hammers is to mainly be concerned with speed. Just make sure that you are able to hit 1800 fps out to the max yardage you can shoot too for hunting. It was difficult to turn off my previous loading knowledge of wanting that 1500 ft lbs instead of just getting proper bullet performance. I used the 151 Absolute Hammers in the .308 this year and they were fantastic!
