Another limit of dusky’s this morning here in NW CO, this time with the model 12 in 16 gauge.

Unfortunately I had to trade some paint with a tree getting up the forest service “road” to the spot. The things we’ll do in the pursuit of grouse.

Got this dusky about 150 yards into our first walk. Hunted a couple more hours and didn’t move another bird. Probably only a few more grouse hunts for us this year with duck opener next weekend and pheasant the weekend after that.

Our pup accidentally flushed a few this morning. Was our first real attempt at looking for them with the hound in tow. For a dog not trained in the game she was surprisingly more help than hindrance.

Hooray for some Blues. I have been getting nothing but Ruffed grouse this year, it is great to get high enough and get some Blue grouse…
