i saw a report on safe bear hunting it said if you tie little jingle bells on your boots that it would keep bears at enough of a distance not to attack.it also said you should always carry pepper spray in an area that had grizzlies.
there was also a statement about determining what type of bear the scat came from it said black bear scat would have nut shells and berries in it and grizzly scat would have little bells in it and smell like pepper
