Greetings from the DFW area of Texas. New to the forum, grew up splitting my time between Iowa and Colorado.
Old dude with 7 children, planning my first elk hunt to Colorado in 2018 with my oldest son (he's 26). Dad and uncle hunted elk in CO when I was younger but never got to go.
I know the mountains some, but hoping to pick up some tips along the way here. Looking at 2nd or 3rd rifle (OTC) and trying to draw a cow tag. Most likely hunting the eastern portion of the Grand Mesa or Western portion of Gunnison. Will be an on our own deal out of a wall tent.
