Greer fire

A fire burning in unit 1 in AZ near Springerville/Eagar. My brother is in "set" mode with trailer hooked up and ready to go if necessary. Currently about 10 miles from his house.

It's starting out to be a bad fire season

It looked like it was in town from Springerville yesterday.

9500 acres now. Inciweb shows it jumped over Eagar with a spot fire. Right over where I gased up and shopped.
Bummer.
Bone dry grasses and PJ's, dead ponderosa's.

Smokey/hazy here again. Not quite as windy today, 25/30mph.

2 separate fires from map and new info. Both human caused. Under investigation.
Smokey hazy today with lower winds until Sunday.

40mph winds again.

Latest report shows they have 55% containment and highway 260 is open. Hopefully the winds won't make it blow up again.
The eastern edge of the fire is burning in some very rocky, cliffy terrain and there isn't a lot of fuel to burn there. Hopefully it can be stopped there.
We drive by there quite often when visiting my brother. It was a good spot to see a few whitetails.
