What's the trout fishing like on the Green River in Oct? I'll be looking around north of the Warren Bridge on highway 189. I'm not a fly fisherman, spoons and spinners I am thinking so far.

It's usually quite good, but flows could be quite low this year. Although the headwaters are getting a bunch of snow right now and, compared to everywhere else, are in pretty good shape. I wouldn't bank on putting a boat in in October! If nothing else, it is an unbelievable landscape to hang out in.

Fishing is ok - not necessarily great enough to be specifically worth the trip but if you're there to hunt, the fishing is good enough to warrant bringing a rod.

Be warned! I cannot attest to the mosquitoes in October, but during other times of year I assert they are some of the worst swarms in the lower 48. It is literally the only place where I was driven to seek shelter from mosquito clouds.

Edit: I also found my first elk antler shed up there. That was pretty cool.

I'll be in the area for a cow elk tag. Not drawn yet but I'm all but 100% I'll have that tag again. I'll be staying right near the river and coming out 5 days early so figured we'd bring some fishing rods along.

all of this ^^^

I cannot attest to the mosquitoes in October,
When we hunt around my family friends cabin (a couple miles from Warren bridge) we generally go drum up a few fish up there and I haven’t encountered a single mosquito in October.

Beautiful country and fishing can be quite good. But generally a nice mid day respite from elk/antelope/deer hunting.

P.S. The antelope in my profile pic is from that area.

Closer to Warren bridge down in the BLM portions isn't bad - once you start pushing north across the USFS boundary in unit 141 and up the river, the story changes quick. The road becomes pretty unpleasant too. Good way to keep the tourists out. 😁
