Google and ads?

Twice today I've Googled something and the first thing up was what I was looking for, but preceded by a little green icon that said "Ad". Then, when I opened the link it seemed legit but the formatting was different and they were trying to get me to download something. I'd back to the search page and the second entry down was also what I was looking for but it was an actual link to the home page of what I was looking for.

Is this a new phishing thing, or is it legit or do any of you tech-savvy people have some schooling for this old man?

I've noticed the same thing. Always just clicked on the ad-less result when available.?
