I hope to land a teaching position at the college level in the next few years after finishing up school here in Montana. When that does happen, I'll be tied down for most of the fall. I figured I'd be able to squeeze in some early season archery hunts for antelope before most schools start up or even a long weekend hunt in a good unit. I may be screwed on hunting elk for a while unless I plan a trip for the week of Thanksgiving, but I don't think I'll be chasing them with the bow for much longer. Any suggestions for an early (early/mid August) or late season (mid December into the beginning of January) muley hunt that I could start building some points for?

Just build the points in all of the states. Wyoming Region tags could have you hunting in 1-3 years. There are still OTC tags in Idaho...Of course we all know the legend of the AZ Strip...and UT. Those may take a number of years to draw but if oyu don't apply you will never draw.

What field are you looking at teaching in? If it is a Natural resources or Agricultural College you may find yourself in an area able to do weekend Backpack trips. Yeah you might have to drive 4 hours on Fri afternoon, and hike 3 miles in in the dark, and only get 3 hours of sleep before daybreak, but you are hunting! Make the most of the time you have until you get more time!
