Had a beautiful morning on Siltcoos Lake hunting some ducks. First ones I’ve ever harvested, too!

my guide was excellent, very polite and patient with my lack of knowledge and experience. I definitely got my money’s worth in tips & wisdom alone.

At the end of the day, I went home with a nice mixed bag of some canvasbacks, scaup, and a bufflehead, and a smile on my face. Not a bad way to end a weekend.

You shot CANVASBACKS on your FIRST duck hunt ?!?! You are one lucky rascal !!! Congratulations !!!
Thanks! Absolutely beautiful birds.

And oh no, this wasn’t my first duck hunt. Just my first time actually hitting any hahaha!

Nice job! I have yet to try waterfowl hunting but what you described sounds like a blast! (Pun intended).

Congrats!
It’s a lot of fun. Takes a little bit of $$ for waders and such, but going with a guide was a good choice I think.

For about the cost a set of waders he provided all of the decoys, the boat, the trained dog, and the know how. If you think of it as renting all of those services, it’s an absolute steal!
