Garmin Oregon 600 and onxmaps

All new to me
Got a onxmaps chip for wy and purchased a Oregon 600 have Blm maps for area 16 for this fall antelope doe hunt .
Only got a quick guide in the box
Sitting at home trying to learn how to use this thing
Viewing map and seeing Blm land and land owners boundarys
When out in wy the gps will plot where I am with a arrow / point. correct ?
does anyone have a link to an easy to understand tutorial on the correct way to use my new unit gps

Yep, turn it on and it'll show you where your currently at. If you're not in wy it will show the standard basemap. When in Wyoming the onx map will show up.

I have used Garmin dedicated gps units for years hunting, hiking and fishing, map chips, etc. I have become tired with the relatively slow performance when trying to move around a map and add/remove layers etc. I am seriously thinking about switching to my iphone with a battery pack -- playing with the onx app at home it is dramatically zippier than my gps. Have others switched over to their phones?
