A buddy of mine just started hunting a few years ago. I’ve been helping him, and I mostly do it because it means I can get out on a few more hunts even when I don’t have the tag. He got a Nebraska doe antelope tag this year so my son and I went along to help. It’s an area I archery hunt antelope every year so I thought I knew where they would be. The 1st day we covered about 200 miles and found a group of 25 but they were in South Dakota. We were a little bummed, but I always use Randy’s “find where they aren’t” to pick me up. Well the morning of day 2 we try an area I know nothing about, find some but it’s all private ground there. We stop by the landowners house and he tells us to go for it. So a short stalk and a 200 yard shot and it’s over. We get her quartered up and into town to the car wash to clean the meat up and get it on ice and that’s that. I think my son is a good luck charm. A quick trip to Chadron for a thank you card and a gift card for the landowner, and we were headed back to the other side of the state.
