My daughter and I decided to go harass a few lake trout the other day. We only got one before the wind picked up too much so then we went and got some malts. Perfect smoking size.

I have only atre smoked trout once in my life. Found them much better smoked than any other way I ever ate them. haven't fished for them in years now as I just don't care to eat them. But smoked? maybe I should try again!

In my opinion smoked lake trout is the best smoked fish you will ever have. I like 4-8 pounders for smoking or grilling. 2-3 pounders are good for frying or baking. Lakers over 10 pounds are a blast to catch but they go back in the drink. Lakers over 20 will destroy swivels, hooks, and split rings. I’m a bit of a laker fanatic though so I’m bias.
