What is the result? I'm sure "how hot" it burns and other vagaries play into it, but what's your over all experience? If you go through a recent burn will you find anything, even if it's black or charred? Or do they just fall apart or burn up and disappear? I've go no experience with this.

I have found hundreds of antlers in burns. It all depends on how hot it got. Antlers in grass make it with little damage other than discoloration. Antlers that are dropped in heavy fuel will fall apart when handled. Sure is easy to find them in a burn.

Thanks, that is what I was hoping for. We just had a fire, 16,000 acres. Thought I'd go check it out if they survive.

Good to know, I glassed up a big prescribed burn recently. Will have to hit it one of these days. Seems like moose stay in that area. My season has been put on hold until the arrival of a new member of the family (any day now) so if not hunting I'm looking forward to lots of scouting shed horn hunting this coming spring.
