Flying to Hunt

yep! New luggage rules. They are gouging you on the first bag now on most airlines! When i flew out to MT last week it was 25$ for my second bag, when i flew home new rules went into effect and they charged 15$ for the first bag and 25$ for the second:mad: make it easy and when (you must) declare your guns, have the bolt open. Have the case unlocked and lock it after they put the declaration ticket in the case and wait for it to clear the inspection before going to your gate.
Coolers with dry ice must be vented:confused: so drill a small hole in the lid and with a magic marker make a big arrow to the vent labeled "VENT" or they will make you tape open the drain on the bottom. Not a good idea because if any blood leaks they will kick your cooler out of the flight.
take all your heavy expensive optics and electronics on your carry on "backpack" because they sometimes do not check how much your carry on is (only once they did mine)

Schmalts pretty much summed it up. No new twists in flying with guns though. Same as its been since 9-11.

FYI, throw in a change of cloths in your carry on. When I few to MT last month they lost my luggage going both ways.

I do same as Schmalts as far as caryon goes, used to take one large caryon and a small backpack, could just about get evertying I needed in those two and a my rifle case. last time I flew on a hunt I know for a fact my caryon was over 50 pounds. :)
