First Walleye

It kind of looks like a sauger to me with no white tip on it's tail. Good eating either way!

Caught 3 this morning. The warden said that one and a bigger one were walleye. The one he said was sauger had some large dark spots on it. I'm no professional on them but figured he was pretty close to it. But I agree good eating either way.

Well I don't have a picture of the other as I thought this was of my first one. But thankfully to all the experts (said with not too much sarcasm;)) on here it seems it wasn't. I will still assume the other was as I believe it did have white tips but I guess I will just have to go out and catch a few more just to make sure. I hate to have to go again. :)

Yep a sauger they don't always get spots depends on the water colour. If you lifted up his dorsal fin there would be spots for sure sauger will always have spots there. Don't worry saucers taste just as good as walleye lol

Good deal. Nice to know in the future. Like I said, guess I'll have to go again to confirm I have caught my first walleye.

Yes it is a sauger and don't worry about it. (The no white tipped tail and spotted dorsal are dead give aways) They eat up the same as a walleye, which is excellent! Enjoy.
