Took my oldest to the high country to try rattleing bucks in. Didn't see any deer but had a turkey charge us. I thought it was a bluff charge a lot like the grizzlys bluff charge but I was wrong it came at use full out. I managed to get
the 6mm up in time to drop it at twenty paces.

So what makes a good turkey besides a dead one in the hand? Whats a good beard length? Mine is 8-1/2 inches. I've seen pics with the tails fanned out on plaques, is this hard to do? Do you just treat the tail section and pin it out until its dry?

PBurn- turkeys are "scored" by weight, beard length, and spur length.
Anyone destined for the pot is a good bird IMHO. The tail fans are a piece of cake, just remove as much of the flesh and fat at the tail butt as possible, work borax into the area, spread it out (fan it) and pin the feathers, and let er' dry...done deal!

WTG............your addicted now.........gotta love turkey huntin' :)
