First Sit of the Season

Saw deer legs off in the distance as I was walking into my spot this afternoon. I quickly climbed the tree and could hear deer walking as I put my bow on the hook. A group of five came in behind me and smelled where I walked in and eased off. Would’ve been nice to kill with plenty of daylight. Oh, well. Good to be up a tree. Mississippi archery opener.

Archery opened up yesterday here as well. I won’t go until next weekend. We are going after squirrels in the morning. Haven’t had squirrel, gravy, and rice since opening weekend last year....

I had a porcupine broadside at 20. Decided to give him another year. No deer this morning for my opener.

You must be in 'north' Mississippi. I jest, I'm in the south end of the state where our season doesn't open until the 15th. However, I did get drawn for some WMA archery hunts, so I'll be out there soon!
