Fiddlehead ferns

All around our cabin it would look like a small explosion went off under the snow in the spring. With duff thrown about in 30' areas. As I became more familiar I realized what was going on. The moose were digging up fiddlehead ferns under the snow. Also learned that there are small ferns there in the fall. And can be dug up for a snack. A little bit bitter but OK. Probably better with some butter in a hot pan over a campfire
