Ever Buy at a Sheriff's Sale

A house nearby is getting foreclosed on and will go up for Sheriff's sale soon.
Thinking about trying to buy it to pick up another 17 acres, plus clean up a neighborhood eyesore. Would probably clean it up and just own it as a rental, so I could have some control over what caliber of neighbors live there.
I'm thinking a couple strippers would be great tenants.

Anybody ever bought property at one of thse deals?

Never have, but there ar esome good deals to be had.
