I am new to eastern South Dakota and want to go turkey hunting this spring. I have been looking around for birds with not much luck at all. Can anyone give me some pointers on where I might be successful in finding a good area. Not looking for your secret spot just a spot that has birds in it year after year. Any help would be amazing!!

i was checking out east river area. i was going to look around sisseton area since that is the closest spot i know of. has anyone hunted in this area and if so is it crowed with people?

Part of the Sisseton area is tribal land and requires a tribal tag. Much of the rest is private. Lots of pockets with birds, neat area. I think you need to draw a tag if you're hunting non-tribal land (at least you use to). The state introduced birds in areas along the Big Sioux and James Rivers ten years ago, give or take. Mostly private land but I doubt getting permission is difficult if you put in some effort.
