Eastern MT Numbers

I hunted eastern MT last year and the numbers seemed to be better then a few years ago, i went through the area i hunted last week just a drive through for work and the number of pronhorn i saw was slim to none. Was it another hard winter on the herd? In comparison i was in Wyoming the day before and number seemed pretty strong with some nice goats seen.
