How would you feel if this happened to you and your 13 year old son?

"I noticed a decoy and large, floating debris coming past me. When I looked up, I saw the floodgates wide open and someone standing on the dam," Alan Carpenter said of a river hunter's worst nightmare.

Before they could move far, both Carpenters found the cold water spilling over their chest-high waders while watching gun cases and a carry bag containing an estimated $1,000 worth of waterfowl calls float down the river.

Here's my favorite line from the story

It sounds bad. Just because its possible to hunt there, doesn't mean its good to hunt there, is my first thought. The dam releases need to have buzzer warnings or something?!

We have a place south of Idaho Falls like that and there is a warning horn giving you plenty of time to get to high ground.

This could have been tragic!!!!
