Friday morning while on a dog drive hunt down in the lowcountry swamp, I heard deer in the water headed my way. I spotted this 130 lb doe and two nearly full grown yearlings busting through the brush at about 75 yards, headed towards me. I picked out a clear spot about 45 yards away and when they hit the hole I shot the biggest one with my Remington 1100 loaded with Winchester SuperX 2 3/4" 00 buckshot. At the shot they did a complete 180 but I could tell she was hit, so I hit her with another load and she slid to a stop. The other two were moving too quickly and the brush was too thick to get a shot at them, so I ran up and finished this one off with a .45 slug from my XD. It took the dogs about 20 minutes to come on through and continue after the other two. The went completely out of hearing and into the next county.

Having done quite a bit of rabbit hunting with beagles, a dog hunt for deer is something I'd really like to try sometime. Congrats!
