First time I'm mounting a scope for a leupold on a weatherby. When I opened up the talley rings they are marked different. I ordered 30mm light weight lows and the rings are marked different. The first ring is marked 30L and the 2nd ring is marked 1L. Am I missing something? Thanks

This is how i set up talley rings on vanguard/howa to get the eye relief that works for me. Front/rear are different.

The numbers are usually different. L for L, M for Medium, etc.

If they dry fit right and the holes match up they are probably right

I like the Talley lightweights, but I find I have to lap them. The Wheeler scope install kit is a great investment if you mount your own. If you have the Wheeler kit, dry fit them to the action and the alignment cones should be pretty close.

I also epoxy bed them to the action. Don't forget the release agent on the action (and the screws!). I apply release agent to the screw holes too so I can get any squeeze out cleaned out easily. I clamp down the bases and clean out the holes with a q-tip before I put the screws in. I have never had one glued together.

Do they fit? The ones I have for R700's are not 2 of the same - the front one being longer. It can be turned around for shorter scopes, etc.

Does the 30 mean 30mm and the 1 mean 1 inch?? I have called Talley several times over the years, and someone usually answers very promptly.
