Returned to the spot I hunted last year. Still really warm and am thinking the rut is behind a week or two here. Didn't see much sign. Kicked up a deer, not sure if it was a buck or not, but my gut tells me it had horn...just based on the size of the body. Found a nice rub not far from where I kicked the deer up. All within a few hundred yards of where I hunted last year. Will miss the first few opening days of rifle season...could play into how this year pans out. Will likely go back out there again next weekend and set the stand up.
