My son and I got out on foot to check an area out that has been known to hold a decent black bear. No bear but this moose kept sneaking around us and for as close as he got a couple times he was so quiet it amazed me. We'd scare it off and after covering several hundred yards he would show up again watch from behind a tree or behind a bush. It was quite comical and lasted a couple hours. Here are a couple shots of the type of tree's we were in and how well he could hide his body within 30 to 40 yards of us.
